WG6: Variety testing and certification

This working group will exchange knowledge on those plant characteristics
that are relevant for organic farming, the best methodologies for assessing
these traits and their practical implementation for organic variety testing. WG6
will also discuss research protocols that are used for official organic variety
testing. Some countries have recently started to put an organic variety testing
system in place (AT, CH), some are finishing research projects on this topic
(NL, DK), while others are in the initial phases of doing so; thus the exchange
of information, generated in different countries, will be highly beneficial.
Expected deliverables are a handbook on evaluation methodologies for variety
testing, a scientific article dealing with the relevance of organic variety
research and a policy paper on implementing official organic variety testing.
