WG1: Genetics and Plant breeding
Working Group Leader: Isabelle Goldringer,
INRA, Moulon, F
Plant breeding approaches making use of and increasing genetic diversity of
the crops will be studied, focusing on plant material adapted specifically to
low-input/organic agriculture. This group will also coordinate national
initiatives to search for adapted germplasm, and will synthesize the basic
knowledge available for the genetic control of traits of interest. Where
national money is available, part of the material investigated in other groups
may be described with respect to genetic markers. Material and results from
different population breeding programmes in wheat, (UK, G, HU, F), will be
integrated into the overall European approach on the use of genetic diversity.
WG1 will ensure that principles and materials from WG2 to WG6 are integrated at
appropriate levels of priority into different approaches for the use of genetic
diversity.
