COST860 Web Hints

The "Search" facility

Enter one or more words in the input field, quote phrases that you want to search for.

Use an asterisk (*) as a wildcard (joker) symbol.

There are two submit buttons: "All" will find documents containing all the words and phrases in the input field, "Any" finds documents containing one or more of the search items.

Your query is transfered to a search input field on the result page. You can edit this field to refine your search. Actually, you can refine your search further using common search operators: AND, OR, NOT, NEAR, and parenthesis, e.g.:

  • plant near molecul*
  • (field and experiment*) and not "field experiment*"

The "Back" link returns you to the page where you started your search.

Popup hints

Many elements on the pages have popup hints. They pop up if you rest the mouse over the element for a moment.

The menu

The top menu is identical for all pages.

Most documents have submenus, thus the second level of menus depends on the item selected in the top menu. The subpages can again have a third level of menus.

A lighter color indicates the currently selected path. The item for the currently selected document is inactive in the menu.

The path field

The path field (with a red frame) shows the menu path to the currently selected document. The path elements are hotspots except (normally) the last element.
