Final Programme (pdf-file) (New version 2006-06-02)

Aim: A workshop for those involved with participatory plant breeding and seed production for organic agriculture dealing with diverse crops (not merely cereals). The aim is to discuss examples of participatory plant breeding, and seed saving activities in the field of organic agriculture in developed countries. Participatory plant breeding is a recognized tool in developing countries to breed for small farmers. What can we learn from such models for the organic sector? What are the opportunities and limitations? There will be oral presentations, a poster session and a field excursion.

Programme:

  • Plenum sessions (Sunday evening, Monday morning and afternoon)
  • Poster sessions (Sunday evening)
  • Proceedings expected in collaboration with SUSVAR
  • Excursion to organic farms with participatory projects together with SUSVAR (Tuesday morning)

Place and accommodation: In pleasant surroundings in the middle of the country side at La Besse (www.camping-labesse.com), south west of Carcassone.
Note: There will be no Internet access possibilities from the workshop venue.
Accommodation will be in 'chalets' and mobil-homes, each of them with 2 sleeping rooms and a good tip-up bed in the living room. Three persons can easily share a chalet with a minimum of privacy and if more joins in, the accommodation will be cheaper.
