SUSVAR WG5 Workshop on Fusarium

Aim: Apart from the general meeting, the subgroup Fusarium of WG 5 (“Disease complexes”) will organise a satellite workshop (2 half days) to bring together members of SUSVAR and external scientists interested in Fusarium diseases of cereals and to discuss potential benefits and challenges posed by sustainable cropping systems on this disease complex.

Preliminary programme:

• Fusarium Workshop: Friday 13:30 – Saturday 12:30
  “Fusarium diseases in cereals – potential impacts from sustainable cropping systems”
  Topics to be covered through oral presentations and posters will include:
  • epidemiology & population dynamics of Fusarium species in cereals
  • molecular detection & quantification
  • disease forecasting and disease management
  • diversity (both on the pathogen and on the host side) and breeding efforts
  • particular aspects of Fusarium diseases in low-input cereal production

Place and accommodation: In pleasant surroundings (close to a small lake) in the countryside at Velence (http://www.hoteljuventus.hu/juv_bem.html), 41 km west of Budapest. By bus and train it takes approximately 2 hours from Budapest Airport.

Accommodation will be in single or double hotel rooms with fitness facilities. Detailed information on how to reach the place will be sent via e-mail later on.

The registration fee of 150 EUR covers all expenses from Friday, June 1st until Saturday, June 2nd, including accommodation in single rooms, meals, and coffee breaks. (New 2007-03-14)

Deadline for registration: Registration for all SUSVAR activities will be possible at this site from end February 2007. Deadline of registration will be April 1st 2007 for people to be reimbursed by SUSVAR and April 15th for others.

Deadline for submission of Abstracts for the proceedings: May 10th. Abstracts of all presentations are required. Extended papers of up to 4 pages are welcome. Abstracts will be available at arrival and may be published after the meeting.
